Hours: Sunrise to Dusk
- The skate park may close at various times throughout the winter and spring for construction
- Access to the park
- Skate park rules
The new Overland Park Skate Park will offer challenges for both novice and advanced skate boarders and inline skaters.
Now connected to the regional bike/hike trail system along 135th Street, the course integrates many of the popular elements from the former skate park (which was moved due to soccer park construction) and maintains the street style course of the original design, which used ramps, jumps and rails to test all skill levels.
New skating elements include:
- Mini bowl
- Multi-height quarter pipe
- Stairs with handrails
- Seating bowl
- Launch ramp
- Fun box with stair element and handrail
- Mini bowl
- Pyramid
- Seat box
- Low rails
- Curbs
A water fountain is located adjacent to the facility. It and restrooms will be available once construction of the soccer complex is finished in September 2009.
Access to the skate park is limited to pedestrian-only traffic at this time because of soccer park construction. Parking is available in the baseball field parking lot on the west side of 137th Street and Switzer Road; patrons may use the Switzer and 135th Street bike/hike trail to access the skate park from the north.
